SUPERBOWL!

Ok, so really, I'm not completely obsessed with football (or AMERICAN football as it is known here), I'm just really excited for an American sport to be broadcast here. The only problem is that it is on at a crappy hour--11:30 pm tonight. Arg.

Oh well, it should still be fun to sit there and know what's going on for once, unlike rugby. I just don't understand that sport. Now, football...that's an easy sport to watch and understand.

I HATE MAYONNAISE AND THEY PUT IT ON EVERYTHING OVER HERE.

I had a sandwich 3 hours ago and I can still taste the nasty mayo.

This food sucks.

I went to my first real club this weekend.

Boy, was it smoky.

This weekend was rather fun, even though I did spend £15 in a 5 hour span of time (yes, all you math whizzes out there, that is about $30...). On Saturday I woke up late, went to a crap lunch meal, and then went exploring with another American at this little shopping center/street right outside Leicester. It was quite fun. Afterwards, I went with a few people from my block to two bars and then to one of the many clubs in Leicester. One of the boys got extremely drunk and wouldn't leave with the majority of us when we left the club and then ended up getting lost for a while. We (and he, for that matter) have no idea how he got back, except that he crawled into a taxi and got a free ride back (he had no money). I hope I NEVER get that drunk. I can't help but be thankful that it was at least one of the guys; if it was a girl...well, we would be a lot more worried, I'm sure.

The only bad thing about the night was all the smoke. They don't have the "no smoking" laws like they do back at home and I always come back from pubs and such smelling like an ashtray. It's kinda wrong how you can smoke WHILE ON A VERY CROWDED DANCE FLOOR. I thought I was going to get burned a few times. Seriously. Put out your damned cigarette while you are dancing. Oh, and all the stereotypes about British people dancing are true. They can't dance to save their lives.

Classes tomorrow for which I have done absolutely NOTHING. Oh well. I really can't be bothered.

I'm super excited. I just downloaded Skype and it's amazing!!!! I've already talked to Laura for about 30 minutes today...and the best part was that it was FREE!!! I LOVES IT SOOOO MUCH!!! If anyone wants to talk to me, my username is: emily.annelouise.jones

In other news, it SNOWED last night. Many of us from the Digby blocks got out and had tons of fun having snowball skirmishes. I wasn't usually in the direct line of fire, but Blue Block eventually got gained up on and we had to retreat inside the block for safety. Sadly enough, the attackers broke in through the back door of the kitchen and ran through our common room while throwing massive snowballs all over the place. It was a wet disaster.

But the best part of the night was having the extremely drunk "Irish Michael" (called such since there are two Michaels and he is from Northern Ireland) do suicide missions. He would call for snowballs, run to the other side and proceed to throw his three or four snowballs into the group, and run back to us. One time he didn't make it back and was forced onto the ground in front of our windows whilst being plastered with snowballs. It was hilarious to see him crawl back inside the room, soaking wet and reeking of alcohol, and then get up and want to go right back out again.

Sadly the snow didn't last, but it was great while it was there. Really reminded me of home.

Classes weren't too bad at all. I was totally freaked out about them, but I think all will be ok. My Social Psychology teacher was pretty crazy, saying stuff like, "If you understand social psychology, you can change the way people think and take over the world!!!" I almost died. Then in my history class, I have two other Americans in there with me which makes it nice.

Their class schedules are weird here. I have a class that meets at 10:30 on Mondays and then at 11:30 on Thursdays in completely different rooms and buildings. But that is how most of them are, so I guess I'll have to get used to it.

Laters.
